Shenfield High School

The year 8 Football team continued to show their vast improvement this year after securing a 2-2 draw with Boswells. A superb fighting performance saw Shenfield take an early lead after Harris was upended in the box. The awesome Portway who lead from the front throughout the whole game smashed the ball into the top corner, to give Shenfield a deserved lead.

The score remained at 1-0 going into the break, with chances few and far between. Shenfield worked incredibly hard for each other, closing down the ball whilst maintaining their shape. Midway into the second half, Frankie Wright topped off a great performance with a quite outrageous finish from the edge of the box. He controlled, turned and struck the ball over the keeper into the top corner, sparking wild celebrations.

Shenfield held the lead until Boswells nicked one back after some rare sloppy defending, making for a nervy final 10 minutes. The home side held the lead and looked as if they were going to claim a richly deserved 3 points. However with barely 30 seconds on the clock, the Boswells striker somehow managed to slot home a equalizer from the narrowist of angles to break the Shenfield resolve.

No sooner did the goal cross the line that the final whistle blew and the game was over. An outstanding team performance by every single Shenfield player which the result shouldn't detract from.

Keep up the hard work in training,

Mr Bennett
