Shenfield High School

Huge congratulations to our U13 girls cricket squad who won the Essex softball Cricket tournament today. 16 other schools were represented in the competition and Shenfield were placed in the group of death along with New Hall and St Martins. Shenfield beat both teams with an over to spare before a connor able win over Epping St John's. The girls then defeated Hall Mead in the semi final chasing 62 with 1 over to spare. The final was against Honywood where we were asked to bat first. Erica Hobson and Lucy Edmeades made a superb start. Erica retired on 22 from only 13 balls.

Deniz Soyer and Holly Tanner continued the aggressive batting to leave Shenfield on 100 from 7 overs! Emily Power bowled a brilliant 1st over that removed their Essex county player and conceded just 3 runs. With all the girls then contributing with tight bowling and good fielding Shenfield won by 54 runs to seals their first Essex title. The girls will go on to the regional finals which Shenfield won last year before claiming the national title in September. This squad is much younger and less experienced than last year but their progress and effort has been immense! Keep up the great work and they too might claim a national title in this Chance2Shine sponsored event.
