The U'14 boys started their season off with an emphatic 9 wicket win over William De Ferrers avenging their dismal defeat last year. Having asked the opposition to bat first the visitors were soon in trouble after Patel found his length to disturb the timber. Jack Pryor maintained an excellent line and length the other end to restrict any scoring opportunities. With runs coming soley through wides Wheadon and Mason were bought on to steady the ship and bowl wicket to wicket. That they did tearing through the WDF line up taking a combined 8-17 leaving a chase of 50 for the victory. Wheadon finished with career best figures of 5-14 whilst captain Mason 2-1-1-3.

The chase was straightforward and the game finished inside 10 overs with Gooding and Mason seeing their side home. Mason finished with 21* and Gooding 10* getting their side off to a winning start. The next game see's tougher opposition with Baddow the visitors in the Essex Cup.
