Shenfield High School

The Shenfield High School U'15 girls put in a great team performance to beat Felsted in the final of the Essex Cup. Despite Felsted missing a couple of key players they put Shenfield under sustained pressure, eventually finishing 35 runs short. Shenfield ammassed 154-3 in their 20 overs with contributions from all (Drewe (22), Garwood (18) Hobson (16) and Timson 33*. Ellen Hoad and Emily Power picked up early wickets, with Shannan Drewe finishing off a great alround performance with 2 wickets and a catch. The game was played in excellent spirit with some high quality Cricket being played throughout the afternoon. A big thankyou to Felsted school for hosting the final and being so accommodating on the day.

A special mention has to go Captain Poppy Timson and her sidekick Abbie Rawlins who made their final appearances for the school. Both are and have been fantastic role models for the younger girls and I am very thankful for the influence that Poppy in particular has had on girls cricket at Shenfield. Poppy will join up with the Cricket Academy full time next year and will begin part time whilst she continues to study for her GCSE's. I am sure that this exceptionally likeable and talented young lady will go onto great things, whether in Cricket or with her studies.

The U'15 girls resume this year is as follows:

County Indoor winners

Regional Indoor Finalists

MESSSA Cup Champions

Essex Cup Champions

County Softball Champions

Regional Softball Champions

3rd place in the National Softball Finals

3rd place in the National T20 Hardball Competition

This is almost a mirror image of last years successes only in 2014 we WON the National Softball Finals and were runners up in the Regional Indoor competition. All of this success is built upon hardwork and dedication from both the players and the staff. Only 3 of the 12 girls play Cricket outside of school and I am convinced that the hours of practice these girls have put in throughout their time at Shenfield has contributed largely to their incredible success.
