Shenfield High School

Celebrating Success

Colours Award System

Shenfield’s P.E. Colour’s system rewards students who demonstrate outstanding commitment and talent in sport.

Students can receive their Colours in an individual sport when they have representative honours in their field and demonstrate the appropriate positive sporting attitude. These awards are made to students of Year 9 age and older.  There is also a highly regarded ‘Sport’ Colours award that students receive if they represent the school in a number of sports (Four sports at Year 9 and three sports thereafter). They must demonstrate commitment to these activities and again display the expected high standards of sporting behaviour.

Colours Award recipients are invited to the annual Sports Awards evening which celebrates the numerous successes of Shenfield’s students within extra-curricular sport.

The Colours system is a key part of the Physical Education Department’s rewards structure. This structure is represented by ‘The Pyramid of Awards’ . This pyramid clearly outlines the criteria for receiving the various awards and when these awards are available to the students.
