Shenfield High School

After a dismal performance in last years fixture, Shenfield 1st X1 were looking to put in an improved performance. Fresh off a 3 day tour of Eastbourne the boys were pumped for this competitive fixture, looking to exact some revenge.

After being put in on what looked a decent track and a quick outfield Shenfield needed to start well. And start well is exactly what they did, thanks to a quite brilliant innings by captain Jack Potticary. He took the home attack apart, hitting the ball to all parts, he punished anything short, full or wide! He ammassed 73 off only 38 balls and included 7 fours and 5 huge sixes. Both he and the impressive Mahmood took to the score to 94 inside the first 8 overs, before Jack was bowled trying one to many shots. Despite the loss of Potticary the run rate continued and 200 was still on. Mahmood continued to play freely and was timing the ball beautifully, he finished with a superb unbeaten 72 off only 48 deliveries. Some late order hitting enabled Shenfield to post 193-3 in their 20 overs, leaving the field in buoyant mood.
