Shenfield High School

The now well established Shenfield Cricket Academy has made a move to further enhance its excellent reputation. International Cricketer Catherine Dalton and former Essex professional Matthew Salisbury will both be coaching full time from January onwards. This year has seen the acadamies biggest intake with a combined squad of 25, many of which are current county players. Cath and Matt have been in on part time basis throughout the last couple of years, however with this increased number their presence will be welcomed by all.

Head coach Richard Abson-Bennett remarked "It has been a little while in the making, however im very glad we have both of them on board. Cath's knowledge of fast bowling in partiuclar is invaluable and we have a few projects that we are going to work on, including a fast bowling academy. Matt is a serious player and the boys can really relate to him, his knowledge of the game is something i cannot offer, giving those aspiring to be professionals a real insight. It is a really exiciting time for the Academy as we head off to Cape town In February for our 13 day tour. The squad have trained magnificently up to now and there is a great buzz, we cant wait to get out there and play."

Harry McQueen who runs the S&C programme at Essex is coming in for a 4 week period to get the team in shape for what promises to be another excellent tour. With two teams competing fitness levels will need to be at their peak with 30 degree heat and back to back games. Our playing kit has been ordered and i would like to publicly thank Mark Whetstone and Neil Purbrick for their sponsorship.
