Shenfield High School

Business Department

Philosophy and Aims

To develop young peoples’ skills in a way that prepares them to exercise their rights and responsibilities, playing an active and curious role as producer, consumer and citizen in the economic world of the future.

  • In order to achieve our mission the Business Department sets itself a number of aims. These are threads that run through all our teaching at KS4 and KS5, and can be summarised as follows:
    • To offer a variety of subjects and employ a range of teaching strategies to enable all students to enjoy learning and achieve relevant qualifications
    • To enable students to develop a range of personal qualities essential for the workplace, including politeness, perseverance, initiative and independence
    • To have the opportunity of taking part in a variety of ‘real’ business experiences
