Year 7 Cricketers record comfortable victory

The Year 7 cricket team maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable victory over Chelmer Valley. Having won the toss Shenfield skipper Darren Villiers

elected to bowl first on a grass wicket. Shenfield bowled and fielded excellently, Jack Prior gave nothing away in his 3 over spell, only going for 11 runs. Ayush Patel took an outstanding catch to remove the dangerous Chelmer batsmen, the bowling remained tight with Harris, Mason, Mason and Patel all taking a wicket apiece. Chelmer finished their 15 overs on 61-5 a very gettable total despite the long outfield and difficult wicket.

The Shenfield response started strongly with Sophie Clarke and Charlie Gooding putting on 29 for the first wicket. They played straight ot the good balls and were assisted by a large number of wides! Gooding was retired and Clarke was caught for 2 but deserves great credit for turning out for the boys and opening the batting!

Darren Villiers and Sam Gray took their team to within 1 run of victory before Villiers held out in the deep, this bought Tim Mason to the crease who didn't get to face a ball before Gray hit the winning runs.

Congratulations to the boys and girls on an excellent team performance. MOM Ayush Patel for an excellent catch and bowling performance.

Coopers in the cup next week, let's do it.
