Shenfield High School

Having suffered many setbacks due to the weather, the Year 9 Rugby team took to the field for the first time this year on Thursday 21st November in a home tie against Chelmer Valley, and what a fantastic start it was! Shenfield’s perseverance with training through all conditions quickly proved worthwhile, going ahead through some excellent passing which allowed Alex Maloney to break down the wing.

Joe Oliver kept calm to convert, just one of the 4 conversions he made from a potential 5. Through outstanding teamwork and experienced leadership from Harrison Jordan, Shenfield went in at the break 33-0 up. Although maintaining intensity, Shenfield faced greater challenge in the second half as a revitalised Chelmer Valley came back with vengeance, clawing back 7 points straight after the break.  However Shenfield’s rotated line-up managed to assert themselves once again, and worked hard to achieve a final score of 47-14.
