Bardouleau Magic Secures First Shenfield Football Academy Win

Shenfield High School 4 vs. Redbridge College 3

Four goals from Shenfield striker Josh Bardouleau secured a dramatic win over Redbridge College in the first ever competitive game played at home by the football academy.

On a damp and miserable day, the players started slowly and found it hard to get into their rhythm against a physical but poorly organised Redbridge side.  The sloppy start was confounded when Redbridge raced into a 1 goal lead, this sparked a fightback from Shenfield led by captain Connor Witherspoon, who started to string a succession of passes together a created chances through the lively front two of Murphy and Falco.

Shenfield finally equalised through a well-crafted set piece, where a pin point cross from last weeks hero Charlie Rolls was expertly headed in by Bardouleau.  However Shenfield went into the break 2-1 down after a freak volley sailed into Robbie Jarvis’s top corner aided by a very strong tail wind.

At half time coaches Mr Fenton and Mr Thomas lifted the boys, who came out a different side in the second half with James Hardcastle and Josh Norman dominating midfield and Tom Howlett working tirelessly upfront Shenfield scored 3 unanswered goals all through Bardouleau.  This included 3 headers, much to the delight of coach Mr Fenton who has been working hard this aspect of the boys game.

Redbridge scored a late consolation to leave Shenfield 4-3 winners and joint top of the Essex College’s premier league with 1 win and 1 draw.
