Shenfield High School

Eight Primary School Girls teams took part in an extremely successful Under 11 Essex Football competition here at Shenfield on Tuesday 6th November ’12. Just like the boy’s competition, the girl’s competition turned out to be a very close affair between all the schools. The four semi finalists to emerge after the group games were Long Ridings Primary , Kelvedon Hatch Primary , St Peter’s Primary and St Thomas Of Canterbury. Semi final 1 was a very closely fought game with lots of chances. It was eventually decided upon by penalties , Long Ridings Primary emerging as eventual winners . In semi final 2 ,  St Thomas’ scored the only goal knocking out a very well organised St Peter’s side.

The final lived up to expectation . Possession was very equal throughout the game with chances being created at both ends , until finally Long Ridings broke the deadlock with a well taken goal. Although St Thomas’ came back very strongly and threw everything into attack , Long Ridings held on and became the tournament winners. Well done to both teams for putting on an excellent match.

A very big thank you to everybody who helped to organise the competition, but a particularly big thank you goes to the following year 10 Shenfield School girls who were magnificent referees and and officials during the afternoon :-

Katie Pounder , Abbie Wallis , Georgina Lewis , Maria Major , Hope Kanor , Rebecca Franchi , Megan Cartwright and Millie Law.
