Rolls Makes History for Shenfield Football Academy

South Essex College 1 vs. Shenfield Football Academy 1

16 students at Shenfield High School sixth form have made an excellent start to their 2 year course as part of the schools Football Academy in conjunction with Colchester United FC.

The boys, 12 of whom have come from different schools have already made a huge impact at the school in both their football and academic achievements.  The students were invited to attend a preseason training camp the week before school commenced and arrived at school each day at 8.30 and were put through their paces both physically and technically.

The students have been selected to be part of the course due to their outstanding track records of attitude and application to their academic studies as well as their footballing ability.  The boys have already shown their worth as ambassadors to the school by giving up their own time to help with the year 7 summer camp.

Lead Teacher of the academy Mr Thomas had this to say about the boys
“Their attitude has been exceptional, we could not have asked for more from the boys in terms of commitment and work rate both on and off the field.  We are really proud to have these students in our sixth form”
The boys commenced their season in the premier division of Essex colleges football on Wednesday 14th September with a 1-1 draw against a vastly experienced South Essex College Team, playing against boys 1 and 2 years older than themselves.  The goal was scored by Shenfields own Charlie Rolls, the first of many in the history of Shenfields Football Academy.
