SHS Netball Gets off to a Flyer

Shenfield started their netball season by taking 26 year 7 netballers for a friendly against St Martins. With this many girls interested we were able to make an A, B and C team. Despite an amazing turnout and enthusiasm from all girls involved, St Martins proved the stronger team on the day. However, the year 7’s will be training hard and back to change the score line in their next meet with St Martins.
The MESSA Netball competition began with year 10 and year 11 playing away against Chelmsford County High School. The year 10 had an excellent turnout, playing some excellent netball and competing to the final whistle, just missing out on a win by 1 goal. The year 11 girls also had an excellent turnout, with some new faces making their debut and familiar faces returning. They have an exciting rivalry with CCHS each year and the girls did not disappoint, just losing by four goals. Players of the match went to Holly Turner, Grace Kelly and Fay Solkhon.

The year 9 netballers started their MESSA season in style with a win away to Sanden School. Another close score, however this one to our advantage, the final score was 11-10 to Shenfield.
There were some outstanding individual performances from the girls. Players of the match go to Charlotte Timson and Rianna Smith.

The year 7 and 8 netballers had their first MESSA fixture against Chelmsford County High School. Both games were intense from the offset, with Chelmsford proving to be tough opponents and the score line changing every quarter. All Shenfield girls battled well and put in relentless effort throughout the game resulting in a double victory for both teams! Congratulations to year 7 on their first ever victory at Shenfield High School, we hope that many more successes are to follow. Player of the match went to captain Poppy Timson. Congratulations to the year 8 team for their first win of the season! The team have grown in talent since last year and we look forward to the year ahead. Player of the match went to shooting star Becky Lawless.
